| Some people said why don't you tear it | | | | Brother Joe became their preacherman |

| After all, the congregation is only | | | | The church grew and grew and grew |
| three or four | | | | The Lord added daily, sometimes one |
| You might as well close the church door | | | | sometimes two |
| These few saints, faithful to the Lord | | | | Faith and commitment to Christ the King |
| Kept the door open though they could | | | | Makes the heavens rejoice and the angels |
| barely afford | | | | sing |
| To pay the preacher, the utilities and | | | | Ward Memorial is spreading the Good News |
| the rest | | | | And the Lord is rapidly filling the pews |
| They gave from their hearts their very | | | | This poem is a tribute to those faithful |
| best | | | | few |
| To the Lord in heaven they knelt in | | | | And to the Lord who makes all things new |
| prayer | | | | May Ward Memorial continue to be a light |
| And committed Ward Memorial church to | | | | And draw others to Jesus who makes |
